97 bags of fake granular pesticides were found in Gangachra of Rangpur, but the administration did not take any action. These granular insecticides made by mixing color with stone powder have been lying in the Gajghanta Union Parishad for the last 10 days. Locals complain that some unscrupulous fertilizer traders are ruining the farmers by manufacturing and marketing fake fertilizers and pesticides.
Even after receiving the names and addresses, the administration has not yet taken any action against them. They alleged that the matter was falsified for a lot of money. However, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer said that fake fertilizers and pesticides manufacturers will not be exempted in any way.
Preparations for winter crop cultivation are going on in Rangpur region. Potatoes, wheat, mustard and vegetables and Boro cultivation require extensive fertilizers and pesticides. There is a huge demand for various fertilizers as well as insecticides and fungicides in the cultivation of potato, the cash crop here, especially during winter season. In addition, using this opportunity, a circle of unscrupulous fertilizer dealers are making and marketing fake fertilizers and pesticides at their homes.
Gajaghanta UP Chairman Liaquat Ali said that on October 15, late at night, he received information that the locals have seized 97 sacks of fake fertilizer along with a trolley in Jaydev Babupara area.
