Local people have handed over a fake doctor to the police in Barisal. The man was seeing patients in guise of a medical officer from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Imran Hossain Rana, 33, was apprehended by locals from his chamber at Konica Digital Diagnostic Centre, located in front of Sher-e Bangla Medical College Hospital, on Wednesday.

One Abu Hanif went to Imran’s chamber with some illness a day earlier. Imran asked him for some lab reports which seemed unnecessary to the patient. Therefore, he went to another doctor who found discrepancies in Imran’s prescription as well. Later, with the help from some local people, the patient went to the chamber for the second time and challenged Imran. At that time, Imran failed to produce any genuine medical certificates or license required to practice as a physician. He was then handed over to the police. During initial interrogation, he admitted that he is a resident of Pagla Purbapara area of Narayanganj.

Sub-Inspector Arafat Hasan of Kotwali model police station said that they detained two more persons from the same facility for further interrogation.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain confirmed the matter, and said legal steps will be taken once a formal complaint is filed in this regard.
