A man of a bordering village in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenidah, Abdul Hannan had filed a fake case with the Women and Children Repression Court in Jhenaidah to “give lesson” to one of his rivals Ali Reza saying Reza had abducted Abdul Hannan’s wife Rexona Khatun and their eight year old daughter Akhi Khatun.
The police in the meantime arrested Ali Reza in connection to the case. However, later the case turned out to be fake when the “said abducted” house wife Rexona Khatun along with her eight-year old daughter Akhi Khatun appeared before a notary public and gave statement that his husband following enmity with Ali Reza over a fish firm locally known as Gher, had filed the case intentionally.
According to Rexona Khatun, her husband Abdul Hannan was locked in rivalry with Ali Reza following the Gher of fish project in the locality. To give Ali Reza a lesson, Abdul Hannan had filed fake case against Reza when Rexona along with her eight-year daughter Akhi Khatun left the house for a job in a jute industry at Dhaka’s Savar on October 1, last year.
Rexona Khatun said before the notary public that her husband had been torturing her frequently in front of the child for dowry even for a trifling matter. She said Ali Reza was an innocent man in the locality and did not abduct her along with the girl child Akhi Khatun. The housewife had urged the authorities to exempt arrested Ali Reza from the fake abduction charges at an early date.
