Fisheries and Livestock Minister S M Rezaul Karim has assured the farmers that the fair price of livestock produced in the country will be ensured.

“Cattle producers spend a lot of money. If they do not get a fair price, they will suffer, become unemployed, lose their interest in entrepreneurship, and the wheel of the rural economy will become obsolete”, he said.

He further said that no cattle will be allowed to enter the country from Myanmar and India in any legal or illegal way. This is to benefit the domestic farmers.

He was speaking at the inauguration of an online cattle market in Charanchal jointly organized by e-commerce platform Valo Kini.com and non-governmental organization Gana Unnayan Kendra. The minister attended in the event online.

He assured all farmers and producers on behalf of the PM that they can sell cattle at a fair price.

The minister said, "We want the country's livestock to grow. The government will provide all kinds of cooperation. There has been a revolutionary change in the livestock sector in Bangladesh.”

He said that due to the pandemic, online sale of sacrificial animals would be helpful for everyone.

“It is most necessary to stay away from public gatherings in the dire situation now. The opportunity to buy and sell sacrificial cows online is very helpful for the state and the government”, he said.

He said that the online cattle market in Charanchal is not only for the benefit of buyers and sellers, but also for the benefit of the state.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came to power and took a plan to establish a digital Bangladesh. Due to the implementation of that plan, the farmers are now able to connect to the online platform”, said the minister.

The minister also said that the ministry's 'Coastal Livestock Development' project for the people of the Charanchal is under implementation.

He said that all kinds of cooperation are being provided to the development of livestock from this project. Every effort is being made by the government to ensure that their livestock is sold at a fair price and that they are not harmed in any way.

The minister also directed the district and upazila livestock officials to ensure that the farmers do not face any crisis with their livestock.
