Fahamedul arrives in Dhaka

Among of the three foreign based Bangladesh booters, who are in the 26-man premilinary squad of Cabrera, Fahamedul Islam arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday morning to join the national team for the upcoming friendly match against Bhutan and the Asian Cup Qualifiers match against Singapore.

Italy-based 18-year-old Fahamedul landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 9:00am, when he flew from from Rome for Dhaka.  

A group of fans went airport with a banner read – “Welcome back, Fahamedul” as the Olbia Calcio winger made his way to the car waiting outside the airport, avoiding queries from the media.

It’s expected that following Fahamedul’s arrival the two other high-profile foreign-based booters, Hamza Choudhury and Shamit Shome will arrive on June 2 and Shamit is expected to come to Dhaka on June 4, the day Bangladesh take on Bhutan. Fahamedul, who earlier joined the national team's camp and also had some practice sessions in Saudi Arabia in March ahead of Bangladesh’s first match against India at the coach Cambrera’s call, but was later withdrawn and sent back to Italy by the coach himself.

That incident created quite a bit of uproar from different quarters and fans also reacted. 

It remains to be seen whether the talented young winger makes it to the team list for either of the two matches.
