Face recognition cameras in every town: Palak

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said face recognition cameras will be set up in every town of the country. “One hundred face recognition camera would do the works of 2,000 policemen. Setting up of such face recognition cameras will start soon,” said Palak, adding that the sophisticated technology is being introduced to make every town safe as per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The state minister disclosed the information while addressing the inaugural session of a tree plantation programme on Bangabandhu High Tech Park premises in Rajshahi on Tuesday noon. He said face recognition cameras will be set up in important city points of Rajshahi so that none of our sisters faces sexual harassment and eve teasing.

 No miscreant would be able to flee after committing any crime. This sophisticated technological gadget is far more improved than those of close circuit cameras which will detect the criminals easily. AHM Khairuzzaman Lition, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation attended the function as the chief guest.

He said the Bangabandhu High Tech Park is going to be an attractive place with plantation of several thousand trees around the site. 14,000 unemployed youths will also be provided with jobs at this high tech park. Presided over by Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Nur ur Rahman, the function was attended, among others, by Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, RMP Additional Commissioner Sujayet Islam and officials of Bangabandhu High Tech Park project.
