Director Sam Hargrave provided a glimpse behind the scenes of the new ‘Extraction’ sequel, ‘Extraction 2’. The action-thriller starred Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, an Australian special forces operative turned mercenary soldier, that has been tasked with rescuing the kidnapped son of an Indian drug lord in Bangladesh. A tremendously successful directorial debut for Sam Hargrave, he returns to direct his second major production with the sequel.

The Netflix original film broke platform records to become the most-watched movie in the company's history in 2020. Based on the graphic novel Ciudad created by Ande Parks, Anthony and Joe Russo, Eric Skillman, and Fernando Leon Gonzalez, ‘Extraction’drew huge audiences on release, with an estimated 90 million viewers streaming the film within the first month. Topping Netflix's all-time top viewing figures for an original movie, it is no surprise that an Extraction sequel was quickly greenlit, and Tyler Rake is set to return in 2022.

In a video released on Instagram, Sam Hargrave walks through a flurry of thick snow in Prague, the location where filming has just begun for ‘Extraction 2’, teasing a future scene by saying he's leaving a "train location." Day one of the film's shoot appears to show the varied life of the Australian mercenary as Tyler Rake seems to be tackling much colder climates in his next iteration. A setting wholly different from the baking heat of Bangladesh in ‘Extraction’, the director nevertheless seems enthusiastic, saying the snow "looks pretty great on camera."

A teaser trailer released back in September relived the dramatic finale of ‘Extraction’ and the circumstances from which the sequel will open. With Tyler Rake near fatally injured in his last mission, many fans thought they had seen the last of the Aussie agent.     -Screen Rant
