Hundreds of bright-coloured, exquisite, alien Tulip flowers are in bloom at frontier Dorjipara village under Tetulia of Panchgarh district. Visitors from various areas of the country are thronging the village to have a look at those flowers.
It is learnt, under the initiatives of the NGO Eco-Social Development Organisation(ESD) and the financial assistance from Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation(PKSF), Tulip flowers have been cultivated by 25,000 bulbs of Tulip flowers along with 16 female entrepreneurs. Those bulbs were planted in the fields of the frontier Darjipara village on January 10. Later, saplings appeared within 20-25 days and many of those have been flowered in rows with an eye-glaring charm. A total of 19 species of Tulips have been planted in the fields. Of those Antarctica White, Denmark (Orange shady), Lalibela (Red), Dutch Sunrise (Yellow), Strong Gold (Yellow), Jantu Pink( Pink), White Marvel( White), Mystic Van Ejok ( Pink), Happy Generation ( White red shed) and Golden Ticket( Yellow) are mentionable. Tulip farmers informed the flowers will survive for two to three months more. During February, in the next March and April, there are several national events and days including Language Martyred Day, World Love Day, various national days and the holy Eid day. There will be a tremendous demand of Tulip flowers during those days. Female entrepreneurs engaged in the cultivation of Tulips informed many people are visiting the Tulip flower village Dorjpara and being charmed by the beauty of the flowers. Though flowers did not appear on many plants.
They hoped, like the last two years, the Tulip village Darjipara would attract more visitors this year.
Dilara Begum went to attend a picnic at Tetulia from Rangpur on Saturday. She said that whenever she heard about the cultivation of Tulips in the frontier village of Dorjipara, she wished to visit the flowers in the village. Teacher Nusrat Juli, Professor Camy Jaman and Lecturer Masud from Dinajpur and Thakurgaon were visiting the Tulip field at Dorjipara. They said they were visiting the village to watch the beauty of Tulips. They said, they are charmed by the extraordinary beauty of the flowers.
Naimul Huda Sarker, Deputy Director of the Panchgarh Agriculture Extension Department informed, in the shadowy village adjacent to the frontier of Tetulia, Tulips of 19 varieties are being cultivated.
The flower has great demand at home and abroad and the commercial cultivation of the flower would meet the local demand and would earn forex by exporting it abroad. The climate of Panchgarh is suitable for Tulip cultivation and effort is going on to increase the cultivation of the flower.
