Earnings from chemical products, frozen and live fish, agricultural products and plastic product exports maintained a steady growth in August.
The country fetched $3383.07 core, up by 14.02 percent year-on-year for relaxation of Covid-19 pandemic restrictions over the last few months.
In July- August period of the current fiscal year, the overall earnings declined slightly in the first two months of the current financial year (July-August) although exports of goods did well in August.
During this period, exports amounted to $ 6878.08 crore, down 31 percent from the same period last year, according to data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Thursday.
EPB said in the first two months of the current financial year, the export income of frozen food, agro-processed food, leather and leather products, plastic products, handicrafts, terry wells, home textiles increased significantly.
On the other hand, exports of readymade garments, jute and jute products and engineering products declined slightly.
Agricultural product shipment went up by 16.25 per cent to $207.23.
According to the EPB, garments worth $5640.6 crore were exported during July-August. This income is 1.27percent less than that in the same period last year. However, in August, garment exports increased by 11.5 percent.
Garments products worth $ 275 crore were exported during the month.
"The major markets of our RMG items are struggling with the intensity of the pandemic," said a BGMEA leader.
Business activities in the country have become almost normal over the last few months as the government allowed the opening of all kinds of economic activities over the last few months especially due to rolling- out of Covid-19 vaccination in the country.
The government has set a target of exporting goods worth $ 4.3 billion for the current financial year. In the outgoing fiscal year 2020-21, the export of goods was $ 3876 crore.
