Exporters getting Tk 3,000cr loan facility

In order to alleviate the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, another Tk 3,000 crore is being given from special funds to the owners of export-oriented industries including readymade garments.

Only those entrepreneurs who got loans in June will get this loan facility again. New entrepreneurs will not be able to get this loan. The loan is being given to pay their salary allowance for the month of July of the workers.

The central bank on Thursday sent a letter to the concerned commercial banks in this regard.

The letter said that for the last time, the owners of export-oriented industries, including garments, will get loans from the fund to pay the current month's wages. Entrepreneurs who did not get loans last June, will not come under this facility. The service charge for the first three months of the loan is 2 percent. In the case of the current month, however, it will be 4.5 percent. In this case, the government will give 4.5 percent subsidy.

Earlier, the company, which was exported 80 percent products for loan with a service charge two percent from Tk 5,000 crore special fund to pay salaries and allowances to workers and employees. In the meantime, many exporters have paid their salaries for the three months of April, May and June by taking loans from this fund.

As the situation of coronavirus is still prevailing, the garment owners applied to the government for a loan from a special fund to pay the workers' salaries for another three months. In this context, they are getting another Tk 3,000 crore for the current month's salary and allowance.

As a result, the special fund of Tk 30,000 crore announced for the affected industries and services has been increased to Tk 33,000 crore to heal the wounds of coronavirus.
