Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh sees potentials of information technology, light engineering, renewable energy (RE) and education as other prospective sectors besides ready-made garments for a further boost of export.

The Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce recently visited Australia as part of the government’s move to increasing Bangladesh-Australia bilateral trade and investment.

During the visit, in a meeting with the senior secretary, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Deputy Chief Executive Philippa King stressed strengthening Bangladesh-Australia economic relations as well as diversification of products to increase trade and investment between the two countries.

Austrade's Deputy Chief Executive emphasized on increasing the partnership of various universities in Bangladesh with universities in Australia as an alternative model of higher education.

They also discussed about organizing a joint investment seminar between Australia and Bangladesh to increase bilateral investment.

At the same time, the Commerce Secretary appreciated Australia's assurance in continuing the benefits of Bangladesh as a least developed country in the Australian market.

Meanwhile, the senior secretary was present as the chief guest at a seminar organized by Australia Bangladesh Business Council in Sydney.
