Experts for curriculum dev on entrepreneurship

Speakers at a consultation meeting laid importance on curriculum development on entrepreneurship education, capacity development of faculties, professionals and students, advocacy and awareness initiatives, and entrepreneurial roadmap through research and infrastructural development.

The consultation meeting on an upcoming project to enhance the capacity of universities to promote youth entrepreneurship in Bangladesh, organised by the Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Center, under the University of Dhaka, was held at Senate Hall of the University  on Tuesday.

 The discussion was held on the project tiled "Capacity Building of Universities in Bangladesh to Promote Youth Entrepreneurship (PYE)", involving different stakeholders.

DU Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the ICE Center Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman joined the consultation as the chief guest with ICE Center Vice Chairman Prof Dr Khondoker Bazlul Hoque in the chair.

The objective of the project is to improve the environment for potential youth entrepreneurs through the capacity building of Bangladeshi universities on entrepreneurship education.

Under the initiative of the Education Ministry, the project will be implemented by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and DU in association with the Korea Cooperation International Agency (KOICA) and other leading public universities and relevant stakeholders.

The project will include curriculum development on entrepreneurship education, capacity development of faculties, professionals and students, advocacy and awareness initiatives, and entrepreneurial roadmap through research and infrastructural development.

Noting that Record of Discussion (RoD) for the project was signed between Bangladesh and South Korean on January 31, 2021 under the government-to-government (G2G) modality, the release said, an 11-member expert team of the project management consortium (PMC) comprising Korea Polytechnic University (KPU) and Korea Productivity Center (KPC) is now visiting Dhaka to conduct “Front-end Survey” and develop “Action Plan” with insights, experience and opinions of relevant stakeholders.

Speaking on the occasion, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman said collaboration between Korea and Bangladesh will strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

He hoped that this is just the beginning which will be continuing to make it more viable.

Country Director of Korea Cooperation International Agency (KOICA) Young Ah Doh, Project Manager of Project Management Consortium (PMC) Derik Kim, Consultant of Project Management Consortium (PMC) of Entrepreneurship Curriculum Development Heakyung Bae and Director of RISE-BUET Prof Dr Muhammad AnisuzzamanTalukder spoke at the programme, among others.

Associate Professor and Executive Director of ICE Center Rashedur Rahman moderated the event.
