Expats must renew passports with less than 6 months’ validity

The government has directed the workers, who want to go abroad, to apply for passport renewal or new passport as soon as possible if the validity of their passport is less than six months.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has also been asked to provide instructions on not issuing air tickets if passports have less than six months of validity.

Following the decision of the inter-ministerial meeting held on May 30, the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment issued the instructions.

Mohammad Rasheduzzaman, assistant personal secretary to the expatriates' welfare minister, confirmed it on Wednesday.

Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has been asked to give necessary instructions not to issue air tickets if the validity of passports is less than six months.

The Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment has urged all Bangladeshi workers whose passport validity is less than six months to apply for passport renewal as soon as possible.

According to the ministry, the call has been made to make the journey of migrant workers risk-free.
