Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment minister Imran Ahmad on Thursday laid the foundation stone of ‘Knowledge Park’ at Companiganj in Sylhet.
The minister also visited the under-construction ‘Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre’ located in the park at the same time, said a press release.
Addressing a discussion meeting, organised at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park, Imran Ahmed said that the ICT sector would be one of the driving forces of Bangladesh’s economy to build a smart and developed country as per the current government’s vision-2041.
Managing director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority GSM Zafarullah, in his welcome speech, said they were setting up Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre to create skilled manpower.
Project director AKAM Fazlul Haque said that the construction of the knowledge park on 2.85 acres at a cost of around Tk175 crore would create employment opportunities for around 1000 people. Besides, 3000 people would be trained every year under the project.
