Expat killed as train hits bike in Joypurhat

A Malaysian expat was killed after a train hit his bike and dragged it to about three kilometers at Akkelpur upazila in Joypurhat district on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mukul Hossain, 35, son of Khalilur Rahman, a resident of Hajarapara village under Sonamukhi union of the upazila. He returned home from Malaysia two months ago.

According to the victim's family members and witnesses, Mukul was returning home on a motorcycle from a local market after finishing Eid shopping. On the way, Dhaka-bound Chilahati Express train ran over his bike and dragged him to about three kilometers, leaving him dead on the spot.

Akkelpur Railway Station master Khadija Khatun confirmed the death matter, adding that on information, Railway police visited the area and the victim's family members took the body from the spot.

Santahar Railway Police Station OC Moktar Hossain said an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.
