Godagari Nagorik Committee formed a human chain at the Daignpara crossing of the upazila on Thursday demanding exemplary punishment of the rapists of the school girl recently at the house of local councillor recently.
Presided over by Professor Shato Kuamr Majumder Raku, President of Nagorik Committee, the human chain programme was attended, among others by General Secretary Alamgir Kabir Tota, AL leader Abdur Rouf Karim, Municipal Press Club President Shahidul Islam, Upazila Press club Secretary Jamil Ahmed, Sonaton religion leader Bhabirth Pandey, Jubo Leader Tariqul Islam, Abbas Ali, Hajikul Islam and Sadiqul Islam.
Speakers at the human chain said, at the house of ward councillor Shahidul Islam of Sreemantapur village uder Godagari thana a class IX student was gang raped by three rapists on Tuesday night. They protested the rape and condemned the incident and demanded exemplary punishment of the responsible rapists. It is learnt, mother of the victim girl student has filed a case with Godagari Model Police station in connection with the gang rape of the girl.
Police arrested three rapists namely Usman Gani Nur(16) son of Shahidul Islam councillor, Ridur aAli Khandker(16) son of Obaidul Haque of Sreemantpur village and Tarek(17) son of Jotgosaidas village of the same thana and sent them to jail through the court.
