Ex-UZ vice-chairman held with stolen motorcycle

Police have arrested Suleman Talukder, former vice-chairman of Sunamganj's Bishwambharpur Upazila Parishad, with foreign liquor and stolen motorcycles.

He was arrested at midnight on Monday from Boalia area of Palash union in the upazila. The arrested is Suleman Talukder, son of late Abdul Barik of Muktikhala village in Sadar upazila. Suleman is a former president of Bishwambharpur Upazila Chhatra League and former organizing secretary of Upazila Awami League.

Police said former vice-chairman of the Upazila Parishad Suleman Talukder was arrested on Monday night at a checkpost in Boalia area of Palash Union. At that time, two of his associates on a motorcycle escaped. Later, foreign liquor and a motorcycle were recovered from Suleman Talukder.

Bishwambharpur police officer in charge (OC) Md Mahbubur Rahman said Suleman Talukder was arrested along with foreign liquor and stolen motorcycles on Tuesday at noon. A case has been filed against Suleiman and his two accomplices in the incident. 

President of Bishwambharpur Upazila Awami League Benazir Ahmed Manik said, “Suleman does not have any organizational position at present in Upazila Awami League or its affiliates. However, he has general membership. I heard about his arrest with foreign liquor. Organizational measures will be taken after examining the matter.”
