Police have arrested Golam Azam (48), former Joint General Secretary of the Kasba Upazila Jubo League, from Kasba Railway Station in Brahmanbaria.
He was taken into custody on Sunday morning when he arrived at the station to travel to Dhaka.
Golam Azam is the son of the late Kofil Uddin from Shahpur village in Kasba Municipality and the younger brother of former mayor Golam Hakkani.
Kasba Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Kader confirmed the arrest and stated that Golam Azam has multiple political cases filed against him.
He was produced before the court later in the afternoon.
