Sylhet city's former mayor and ruling Awami League’s executive committee member Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran died of Covid-19 at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on early Monday, reports UNB.
His eldest son Arman Ahmed Shiplu confirmed New Age that he was COVID-19 positive in a test on June 5. Kamran was 70.
He was flown to Dhaka on June 7 from Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital at Sylhed as his heath condition deteriorated.
Shipu said that his father breathe his last around 300am.
He left two sons and a daughter and a numbers of well-wishers to mourn his death.
Kamran's wife Asma Kamran also tested COVID-19 positive.
Ministers, MPs and Dhaka city mayors in separate statement expressed condolence at the death of Kamran.
