Former Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration A.K.M Ihsanul Haque Manju is seeking BNP nomination from Jamalpur-3 (Melandah-Madarganj) parliamentary constituency in the next parliamentary election. He expressed this expectation during a press briefing to journalists at Melanda Reporters Unity on Saturday afternoon.
The secretary reiterated his statement that he was associated with nationalist politics and said that he was active in student party politics while studying at Chittagong University. Due to his involvement in BNP politics during his working life, he fell under the wrath of the previous government and was subjected to many tortures including compulsory retirement. Which the national leaders Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarek Zia are also aware of.
He thinks that BNP could never win this constituency in the past. If I am nominated, I can take the Jamalpur-3 seat as a gift to BNP. For this, I am in constant contact with the party leaders and workers as well as the people from all walks of life.
Will I contest elections if I do not get the nomination from BNP? When asked by reporters, he said that he will not contest elections if he does not get the nomination. However, I will work for the person the party nominates.
