Former member of the parliament from Magura-1 constituency Maj Gen (rtd) ATM Abdul Wahab has become the new chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
President Md Abdul Hamid who is also the President of the Red Crescent Society appointed him for the next three years on Thursday, according to a statement.
The post remained vacant from April 7 when the tenure of the previous chairman Hafiz Ahmed Majumder ended.
The President using his authorised power also dismissed the present managing committee and set up a 14-member ad-hoc committee for three months.
Nur-Ur-Rahman is the vice-chairman of the managing board while MA Salam becomes the treasurer.
Besides, Salahuddin Ahmed, Aroma Datta MP, Prof Khan Md Abul Kalam Azad, Dr Rokeya Sultana, Mofizur Rahman Babul, journalist Monjurul Islam, Razia Sultana Luna, Dr Md Mosharraf Hossain, Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, Md Sekandar Ali, Prof Kanak Kanti Barua, and Md Abdul Jalil became the member of the managing board.
