Police recovered the decomposed body of a former deputy secretary from Dhaka’s Bailey Road area on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Abdul Kader Chowdhury, 60, who was a former deputy secretary at the labour and employment ministry. Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post.
Police recovered the body from an apartment in the Officers’ Quarter of the area and later sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. According to neighbours, the former bureaucrat was a confirmed bachelor and lived alone. Police suspect he might have died a couple of days ago.
Different medicines were also recovered from the apartment indicating that he might have suffered from illness. Police opened investigation into the death.
