Rezaur Rahim Azam, former councillor of Ward 8 of Raozan Municipality and former member of BNP’s Chattogram North District unit, has held a press conference protesting a false case filed against him by Nasim Uddin, a follower of BNP leader Golam Akbar Khondokar.
The press conference was held on Wednesday in the Jalilnagar area. Reading from a written statement, Rezaur Rahim Azam stated that on 29 July at 4pm, a clash occurred between supporters of BNP leaders Golam Akbar Khondokar and Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury in the Sattarghat area of Ward 1. However, he claimed he was in Dhaka at the time and had no involvement in the incident.
He alleged that Nasim Uddin, acting as a proxy for Golam Akbar Khondokar, filed a false and fabricated case against him. He demanded the immediate withdrawal of the case and called for an impartial investigation by the authorities.
BNP leaders Didarul Alam Talukdar, Mohammad Monju, Nizam Uddin Sujon, and several others were present at the press conference in support.
