A court in Kushtia sent a former Chhatra League leader to jail on Thursday on charge of sabotage, as well as for posting false statement on Facebook against the student coordinators.
The accused was identified as Farid Ali, former joint convener of Khoksa Chhatra League, son of Mohammad Ali, resident of Rajinathpur village in Khoksa upazila.
Sources from police said Farid Ali posted a statement on Facebook using a ID named F Ali where he wrote ‘coordinator is the new name of terror in public’s life.’ He also posted false statutes on Facebook on various occasion. This status came to be noticed by the local student coordinators. Moreover, he was arrested as he had charge of sabotage against him.
Officer-in-Charge of Khoksa police station Sheikh Moinul Islam said Farid was arrested by the police during a drive on Wednesday night. He was a former joint convenor of the banned organization, Chhatra League. When he was presented to the court on Thursday afternoon in connection with the sabotage case, the court ordered him to be sent to jail. He is also accused of posting false statements on Facebook about the coordinators.
