Eviction drive to free railway land in Brahmanbaria

Bangladesh Railway estate division has demolished a market, which occupied the railway land in Brahmanbaria on Monday.

However, the State Department of Railway conducted the eviction drive of the area at Baraharan area of Bhatpara Mouja of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila.

According to railway sources, the market was built three years ago on 48 decimal land adjacent to the rail gate area in Baraharan area. There are 106 shops in that market.

Former BNP leader and president of madrasa management committee Abdus Salam Member, superintendent of the madrasa Sultan Mia and general secretary of union Awami League Alem Khan built this market. Executive Magistrate Firoza Parveen led the eviction drive.

Assistant State Officer Ahidun Nabi, Kanungo Iqbal Mahmud and Surveyor Farooq Hossain were present at that time.

Sultan Uddin Ahmed, superintendent of Islamia Dakhil Madrasah, denied the illegal occupation and said they had set up a market there in the name of agricultural land.
