Chowgacha upazila administration conducted an eviction drive to free the pavement from grabbers at the upazila in Jashore on Thursday. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zahidul Islam and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Narayan Chandra Pal led the evacuation drive.
The drive took place at various points along the road from the Bhashkarza More to Upazila Parishad of the municipal area in the upazila. At the time, illegal car parking, easy bike and van stands and shops erected illegally on the footpath were evicted.
At the same time, shop owners were warned not to occupy the footpath in front of their store by keeping their goods and not to load or unload goods parking the vehicles on the streets.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zahidul Islam said that the drive was aimed at reducing public suffering in the municipal area. Every trader and vehicle owner has been warned and legal actions will be taken against them if they disobey the law in the future, he added.
