Everyone should pay tax willingly

Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation AJM Nasir Uddin has said it is possible for Bangladesh to implement such kind of large project like Padma Bridge with its own financing as people of the country are paying tax on self-motivation.
He said this while speaking at a rally organised at the CGO Building in Agrabad on Saturday marking the National Income Tax Day.
The meeting was chaired by Income Tax Day Preparation Committee convener by Tax Commissioner GM Abul Kalam Kaykobad, while Tax Commissioner Syed Mohammad Abu Dawood, Iqbal Hossain, Mahbubur Rahman, Mofuse Ullah, Additional Tax Commissioner Samina Islam and Advocate Syed Jamal Uddin, President of the Tax Lawyers Association were also present on the occasion.
CCC Mayor said that National Income Tax Day is playing a vital role in furthering the pace of economic development of the country by promoting tax culture and raising tax revenue to the desired level by eliminating the revenue at the desired level.
Taxes are one of the major sources for government revenue. The country has become economically strong today by bringing its people under taxation.
In order to make the country more prosperous, everyone should come forward to pay the tax in a self-motivated way, respecting the prevailing laws.
Ctg Mayor thanked all the officials and employees of the Income Tax Department for encouraging people to pay income tax by organizing the program.
At the end of the programme, a procession came out of the CGO building led by the City Mayor. The last two days of the month are weekends, Friday and Saturday, but NBR affiliates will file a return from opening the tax zone these two days. The NBR has decided to submit the return on December 1.
