Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said the government will arrange accommodation for all homeless people in the country, reports BSS.

“By preparing a list of the homeless people in coordination with the local administrations, housing will be ensued for them,” he told a relief distribution programme at the AL president’s Dhanmondi political office through a videoconference from his official residence.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said the AL leaders have been instructed to prepare the list of homeless people in coordination with the local administrations. “As per the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, relief goods must be reached to the homeless people,” he said.

About the opening of RMG factories amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the AL general secretary said the garment factories in Dhaka and adjacent areas were opened in a limited scale in fear of losing global RMG market.

He said the factory owners have been asked to engage in work the RMG workers, who are staying in Dhaka, in their factories.
“The factory owners also agreed to this. But a huge number of workers are now entering Dhaka in fear of losing their jobs,” Quader said, calling upon the owners to keep their pledges and not to terminate any worker during the COVID-19 crisis.

“We must tackle the coronavirus crisis under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
AL relief and social welfare sub-committee arranged the relief distribution programme.

Later, Quader distributed 2,200 packets of food items among the poor and destitute people through his representatives.
AL advisory council member AKM Rahmatullah, its presidium member Abdur Rahman, organising secretaries Mirza Azam and SM Kamal Hossain, relief and social welfare secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, deputy office secretary Sayeem Khan, Swechchhasebak League president Nirmal Ranjan Guha and its general secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu, and Jatiya Sramik League president Fazlul Haque Minto were, among others, present.
