Although his new film Lightyear just premiered, the next franchise Chris Evans really wants to appear in is Star Wars. Telling the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy from Pixar's Toy Story, Lightyear sees Evans taking over voice acting duties from Tim Allen, who played the space ranger in previous Toy Story projects. Evans stars alongside the voices of Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, James Brolin, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, Uzo Aduba, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

Evans took on the role of Buzz Lightyear after almost a decade of portraying Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His time in the franchise as Steve Rogers elevated him to one of the most recognizable actors in the world and made him a household name. After his final MCU appearance in Avengers: Endgame, Evans expanded his repertoire outside of the superhero genre, starring in the critically acclaimed Knives Out and Apple TV+'s miniseries Defending Jacob. Now the actor discusses how he'd like his career to bring him to a galaxy far, far away.

After taking on starring roles in two of Disney's biggest divisions, Marvel and Pixar, Chris Evans shared which franchise he wants to join next. In an interview with MTV News following the premiere of Lightyear, Evans said he would love to join Star Wars next in whatever role he could get. The actor admitted that he would do anything to be in the franchise, even as just a cameo as a stormtrooper or Wookie. Check out his full quote below:

"Yeah, why is there no Star Wars? God, would I love to be in Star Wars! I mean I would do anything. Even if I was just a stormtrooper, I'd be thrilled...Yeah, I'll take a Wookie though, that's fine. Just put me in. I'll do it. I'll take it."

With Evan's esteemed reputation in the industry, a cameo in an upcoming Star Wars project doesn't seem impossible. In the past, George Lucas added multiple quick cameos in the Skywalker Saga. Screenwriter/director Sofia Coppola appeared as part of Queen Amidala's retinue in Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace, and Willow star Warwick Davis played multiple roles throughout the series. More recently, Evans' Knives Out costar Daniel Craig made an uncredited cameo appearance as a stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Evans could also appear in one of the franchise's planned Star Wars series for Disney+.

Despite Evans' eager plea to join the Star Wars universe, he won't be appearing in any of the franchise's projects coming out this year, unless it's in an unannounced capacity. Still, neither Evans nor fans should give up their hope for a future Star Wars cameo. Disney's plan to expand the Star Wars universe includes multiple future film and series releases for the next several years, so Evans may one day get his wish to appear in Star Wars.
