A day-long training session on the Digital Management and Information Exchange (DMIE) system was held on Monday, aiming to revitalize the local village court infrastructure.
The event, organized under the "Activation of Village Courts (Third Phase)" project, was held at the Gurudaspur Upazila Parishad hall room, supported jointly by the European Union, the Government of Bangladesh, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The training brought together Union Parishad Chairmen, administrative officers, and account-cum-computer operators from across the upazila.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fahmida Afroz chaired the session. Special guests included Md. Shafiul Islam, District Manager of the Village Court Project, along with other senior upazila officials.
The workshop provided a deep dive into the importance of activating village courts, the practical application of the DMIE system, and effective data presentation. Participants received hands-on training with live demonstrations on screen.
In her presidential speech, UNO Fahmida Afroz stated, "If Village Courts are run effectively, rural people will have easy and quick access to justice. This training is crucial for establishing justice at the local level."
The initiative is expected to streamline case management, reduce backlog, and make the dispensation of justice more accessible and transparent for the rural population of Gurudaspur.
