Senior commerce secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh said that prices of some commodities increased due to the high dollar exchange rate and value.
Addressing as the chief guest at a meeting of Marketing Monitoring Committee in Joypurhat he said that essentials’ prices were high because of increasing importing cost.
‘The government is providing TCB products to 1 crore families across the country. In continuation of this, 59 thousand families in Joypurhat are being given products through TCB card,’ the secretary said.
He advised that the market should be kept stable and the district administration should always be vigilant to control the market.
Deputy Commissioner Salehin of Joypurhat Tanveer Gazi presided over the meeting.
Border Guard Bangladesh captain Lt Col Tanjilur Rahman Bhuiyan, additional deputy commissioner Mohiuddin Jahangir, additional superintendent of police Ishtiaq Alam, Khetlal upazila executive officer Nusrat Jahan Bonya, Kalai upazila executive officer Jannat Ara Tithi, assistant commissioner and executive magistrate Rajib Hossain, district food officer were present in the meeting.
