Failing to realise extra-benefit, an official of Power Development Board has allegedly blocked the passage for visiting the three-megawatt production capacity solar plant at Sharishabari. He allegedly blocked the passage by dumping drums in front of the main gate from Saturday afternoon to Sunday noon.
According to a written complaint by Project Director of the Solar Plant, a three-megawatt capacity solar plant was set up on eight acres of land of PDB Electricity sales and distribution division of Sarishabari in 2017.
The land was leased to the solar plant authorities by PDB for a 20-year tenure. In the contract form, it was written that the passage connecting the solar plant will be used by officials and staff of the plant till to the end of the tenure. Solar plant authority is paying an amount of Taka 10 lakh per year as rent.
It is learnt, an official of PDB in Sharishabari had been demanding an extra financial benefit from Engineer Anowarul Kabir Sarker, Project Director of the Solar plant but Anowarul Kabir refused to pay any extra money to the official when he with the help of PDB staff blocked the passage of the solar plant by dumping drums of electric wires from Saturday afternoon.
However, when the journalists arrived at the spot, the official with the help of PDB staff removed the drums from the passage of solar plant soon.
Project Director of the Solar Plant Engineer Anowarul Kabir Sarker said, the PDB official had been harassing him in various ways and was demanding extra, illegal financial benefit from him.
When he refused to pay any extra benefit to him, the PDB official with the help of staff put blocks on the way to the solar plant on Saturday afternoon.
Executive Engineer of Sales and Distribution division of PDB, Sharishabari Abu Bakar Talukder in this connection said, he has no idea who was behind the incident of demanding an extra benefit. He requested to talk to the Public Relation Officer of PDB for further information.
