‘Eradicating poverty possible thru strengthening zakat fund’

State Minister for Religion Md Faridul Haque Khan said that if the zakat fund is strengthened, it will be easier to eradicate poverty from the country. The government has taken initiative to enact zakat fund management law to make zakat management more powerful and orderly. 

The activities of the Zakat Fund will be further strengthened if all those associated with the Zakat Fund, including the Islamic Foundation, work together, he added.

The State Minister made the comment on Wednesday at Islamic Foundation Auditorium, Baitul Mukarram Dhaka Islamic Foundation. He was speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting on "Encouragement to Pay Zakat in Government Zakat Fund and Eliminate Terrorism-Militancy" organized by Dhaka District and Divisional Office.

Referring to terrorism and militancy as crimes against humanity, the minister said that no religion supports crimes against humanity. Due to the problem of vision, some groups create chaos in the society by misinterpreting religion. So first of all people have to love.

The state minister said, “We pledge to establish the Sonar Bangla of the dream of the father of the nation by establishing a non-communal Bangladesh free from terrorism and militancy.”

Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Islamic Foundation Dr Md Mushfiqur Rahman and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md Munim Hasan were present as special guests on the occasion.

Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam presided over the function. The keynote address was delivered by Dr Maulana Muhammad Kafiluddin Sarkar Salehi, Governor of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Foundation. Director of Islamic Foundation Md Anisuzzaman Sikder conducted the prayers.

Besides, directors, officials and ulama of different departments of the Islamic Foundation were also present on the occasion.
