Recalling the role of July martyrs, Dhaka Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Rezaul Karim Mallick on Tuesday said everything related to fascism and militancy must be uprooted from society.
“If failed, it will be dishonour to the July martyrs,” DIG Mallick issued the warnings while addressing a special welfare meeting at the Faridpur Police Lines.
Members of the banned organisations must be arrested and brought under the law, or else it will be an insult to those who laid down their lives in the July movement, he said.
Warning of strict action against the accused police personnel, the DIG said, “Any officer found involved in criminal activities or financial irregularities will face legal consequences under police regulations.”
DIG Mallick urged the police to serve the public with dignity and ensure no one faces harassment or delay at police stations. “I don't want to hear any complaints from service-seekers.”
He further issued a stern warning against collusion with members of banned outfits and said no leniency will be shown to extortionists or godfathers of terrorism in Faridpur.
Later, DIG Mallick handed over gifts to families of July 24 martyrs and inaugurated the Police Multipurpose Hall.
Chaired by Faridpur Superintendent of Police Md Abdul Jalil, the event also honoured the victims of the July uprisings.
