In an elite field of over 2,500 athletes from 205 countries, two promising Bangladeshi swimmers recently concluded their campaigns at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The championship, which began on July 11, wrapped up today (Sunday), marking the first time a Southeast Asian nation has hosted the prestigious event.

On Saturday, swimmer Mst Eny Akter competed in the women's 50m freestyle event, finishing in 92nd position out of 104 participants.

She completed her swim with a time of 31.39 seconds. While she finished outside the top placings, her participation on the world stage is a significant achievement for Bangladeshi swimming.

Another notable performance came from Samiul Islam Rafi. In the men's 50m backstroke, Rafi secured the 55th position among 63 participants. He clocked an impressive time of 27.21 seconds. His participation and ranking at this level against some of the world's best swimmers highlight his potential as a key prospect for the future of the sport in Bangladesh.

Both swimmers' performances underscore the immense challenge of competing at the highest level of international aquatics. Despite not reaching the finals, their participation provides invaluable experience and a benchmark for the development of swimming in the country.
