To mark the global observance of “Cybersecurity Awareness Month” throughout October, the Information Technology (IT) Division of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) organised a seminar on Tuesday at its headquarters in Dhaka.

The event aimed to raise awareness among CAAB officials and employees about cyber safety and to enhance their knowledge and skills in protecting personal and institutional information in the digital space.

Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, Chairman of CAAB, attended the seminar as the chief guest, while Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan, Member (Operations and Planning) of CAAB, presided over the session. Khandaker Azizur Rahman, Senior System Analyst of CAAB’s IT Division, delivered a technical presentation.

The programme featured several activities, including banner displays, leaflet distribution, a presentation titled “Safe Online Life,” a quiz competition, and a prize distribution ceremony.

In his remarks, the CAAB Chairman said, “We have gathered here today to celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month – October 2025. Cybersecurity has become increasingly crucial as cyberattacks and digital threats continue to rise worldwide. Every individual involved in the aviation sector has a fundamental responsibility to maintain cyber safety and take preventive measures against potential threats.”

He cautioned that even minor negligence in daily operations could lead to serious cyber risks.

“By staying alert and following basic safety protocols, we can build a secure and reliable cyber environment,” he added.

Highlighting the global nature of the aviation industry, he further said, “A cyberattack on one institution can have international repercussions. Therefore, cybersecurity is not only the responsibility of IT experts—it is everyone’s duty.”

The event was attended by CAAB members, directors, deputy directors, officers and staff from various levels, as well as members of the media.
