The Institution of Engineers Bangladesh has organized a human chain in Kishoreganj demanding immediate revocation of the order of the Ministry of Public Administration regarding the responsibility of monitoring and evaluation of 100% ADP projects to the district administration. The human chain was organized by IEB at Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Chattar near Akhrabazar Bridge in the Kishoreganj town on Thursday morning.

Kishoreganj Public Works Department Executive Engineer Md Bahadur Ali, Public Health Engineering Department Executive Engineer Muhammad Mashiur Rahman, Roads and Highways Department Executive Engineer Ritesh Barua, Local Government Engineering Department Executive Engineer Md Amirul Islam, Bangladesh Water Development Board Executive Engineer Motiur Rahman, PDB's Executive Engineer Md Salauddin, Rahman, Roads and Highways Department Sub-Divisional Engineer Mahmud Al Noor Salehin, Md Maidul Islam, Deputy Assistant Engineer Rakibul Hasan, Md Riaz Uddin, Public Health Engineering Department Assistant Engineer Aminur Rahman Bhuiyan, Nasir Uddin, Deputy Assistant Engineer Shafiqul Islam, Waliul Hossain Ullash and other engineers of each department were also present.

In a press release, the IEB said that engineers have continued to work day and night during the global Covid-19 pandemic to carry out all development work and emergency services. In the light of the existing monitoring and evaluation system, with the direct involvement of the engineers in the implementation of installations like Padma Bridge, Karnafuli Tunnel, Nuclear Power Project has given special status to Bangladesh. At the DC conference held on January 18-20, the Planning Minister of the Ministry of Planning immediately rejected an unreasonable demand raised by the DCs regarding ensuring monitoring and evaluation of the project. Even so, the IEB considers the order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on January 18 to give DCs the responsibility of monitoring and evaluating 100% of the ADP projects as an anti-development conspiracy. If the order is not revoked immediately, the IEB, an organization of more than a million engineers in the country, will be forced to take a tougher agitation programme, including a strike.
