Today is the seventh death anniversary of Former Chief Engineer of Roads and Highway Department (RHD) Mahtab Uddin Ahmed.
He died on February 15 in 2016 at the age of 75. He left behind his wife, one son, one daughter, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
He was born in an aristocratic Muslim family in Sylhet in 1940.The family members requested all to pray for the salvation of the departed soul. Engineer Mahtab also served as the executive director of the Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge Authority. He also served at the Dhaka Transport Coordination Board and as an adviser of the World Bank. His son Prof Dr Mamun Al Mahtab Shwapnil is a renowned hepatologist in Bangladesh. He is currently the chief of the interventional hepatology division of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. Daughter Sijana Mahtab is a banker.
