A fisherman was killed in a lightning strike in Cox’s Bazar’s Chakaria upazila. One more person was injured in the incident.
The incident took place at around 9pm on Saturday (September 19) in the area of Ilishia Fiska Fish Farm in West Baro Bheola Union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Sajid Uddin, 28. He is the son of Abdus Samed of Mennipara area in Ward No. 1 of West Baro Bheola Union. On the other hand, Shamimul Islam (25.), son of Md Zakaria, was injured in a lightning strike in the same area.
Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Syed Shamsul Tabriz confirmed the incident and told the media that the family of the victim will get government financial assistance. Initially assistance will be provided for burial. The injured Shamimul has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment from the Upazila Health Complex.
