Enamur assures journos of allocating land in Savar

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman on Friday assured journalists of fully cooperating to solve their housing problem for a better living.

The state Minister said  he would talk to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this regard. 

He made this commitment while addressing as the chief guest at the special general meeting of Dhaka Journalist Paribar Bahumukhi Samabay Samity Limited at the National Press Club auditorium in the capital Dhaka.

He said forest department has 5 acres of Khas land on the outskirts of Savar city.

"After speaking with the Assistant Commissioner ( Land) of Savar, I will quickly arrange the land for solving the housing crisis of the journalist community", he said.

The minister urged the leader of the Dhaka Journalist Paribar  Bhumukhi Cooperative Samity Limited to immediately submit an  application to the concerned ministry seeking allocation of land. President of the association Mohammad Al-Mamun presided over the program while secretary Mofizur Rahman Khan Babu conducted the mega event.

 President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Omar Farooq, former president of BFUJ Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, former president of Jatiya Press Club and editor of Dainik Jugantar Saiful Alam, president of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Sohel Haider Chowdhury, its secretary Akter Hossian, DUJ former presidents  Kazi Rafiq, Quddus Afrad and Abu Jafar Surjo, Jatiya Press Club former senior vice president Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, DUJ former general secretary Sajjad Alam Khan Tapu, Bangladesh Journalist  Welfare Trust Managing Director Subhash Chandra Badal, convenor of Bangladesh Editor Forum Rafiqul Islam Ratan, Jatiya Press Club Joint-General Secretary Ashraf Ali , BFUJ Treasurer Khairuzzaman Kamal and former DUJ publication secretary Asaduzzaman Asad, among others, were present at the program. 

Later the 2nd session of special AGM was held. Most of the general members participated in the discussion on two agendas. The first agenda of the discussion meeting was to buy land with the money saved by the members to solve the housing problem.

The second agenda was to retain the membership of the nominated spouses or children of the deceased members. 

The members were asked to raise their hands for and against their opinions in this regard. As the majority of the members of the association agreed in favor of the two agendas, it was adopted unanimously.
