It is encouraging to note that despite natural adversities like rain and flood, the construction work of Dhaka Elevated Expressway is progressing fast, ushering optimism about reducing Dhaka’s horrendous traffic congestion and thus begetting positive changes in people’s livelihood.

From airport to Banani area, one can see the construction work of the expressway going on day and night to meet the deadline.  The project work starting from the airport will reach up to Kutubkhali of Dhaka-Chattogram highway via Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Mogbazar, Kamalapur, Sayedabad and Jatrabari.  It is envisaged that the construction of 46.76 kilometre long Dhaka Elevated Expressway will be completed within 2022.

Besides reducing traffic congestion in the capital,

Dhaka Elevated Expressway will contribute to

easing transportations of goods and

 travelling from Dhaka to Chattogram

We believe once completed, the elevated expressway will contribute to easing the perennial traffic congestion that we witness every day. It would usher in a new era of communication as it would make travelling from one point to another much faster and comfortable as well. Also, it would help commuters save their valuable time as it will take 15-20 minutes to reach Kutubkhali from Airport which now takes more than three hours.

It is envisaged that the project will help transport a huge amount of goods From Dhaka to Chittagong without creating pressure on the present highway, which often remains clogged for long hours with all kinds of vehicles.  We hope, apart from reducing traffic congestion in the city, the Dhaka Elevated Expressway will contribute to easing transportations of goods and reduce time required for travelling from Dhaka to Chittagong.

Most of the people in Dhaka have little idea about what an elevated expressway is though news reports about the progress of this project are being published regularly. The authorities concerned should inform the public in details about this unique road, and the role it will play in removing Dhaka's perennial traffic congestion. We believe, before embarking on massive transport infrastructure projects, the general people should be told about their various aspects.
