An elderly woman died and three members of her family were injured after a fire broke out at their home in Chattogram's Chandgaon early Tuesday.
The deceased victim was identified as Gita Rani Ghosh. The injured persons--Biplob Ghosh, Kona Ghosh and Shashi Ghosh – were admitted to the burn unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital, said Md Fakhruddin, senior station officer at Kalurghat Fire Station.
The fire originated from an electrical short circuit around 2:45am at their residence in Moulovibazar under Chandgaon Police Station, according to the Fire Service.
Two firefighting units brought the flames under control by 4:10am, Fakhruddin added.
