An elderly man was stabbed to dead by his younger brother at Deyapara village under Jashore Sador Upazila on Friday morning. He came under attack by his younger brother over land-related dispute.
The deceased was identified as Kazi Nazrul Islam, 60, son of late Kazi Abdul Gani of Deyapara village. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jashore Kotwali Police Station Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter.
The OC said that a quarrel broke out between elder brother Kazi Nazrul Islam and younger brother Kazi Abdur Razzak over land around 10:30 am on Friday.
At that time, Abdur Razzak stabbed Kazi Nazrul Islam in the neck and hand and fled. Later, the family members rescued and sent him to Jashore General Hospital. The on duty doctors at the hospital declared Nazrul dead.
The victim’s wife Jahanara has filed a case against Kazi Abdur Razzak with Jashore Kotwali Police Station, said the OC.
He also said that they are investigating the matter and trying to arrest the accused.
