Police on Wednesday arrested a man on allegation of violating an 8-year-old girl from Aicha Noadda area in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
The arrestee was identified as Shahjahan Mia, 55, son of late Abdul Hasim, hailing from Doulatkhan thana area of Bhola district. He lives at Aicha Noadda area of Savar, and used to ply rickshaw.
Muhammad Saiful Islam, Inspector of Savar model police station confirmed the matter to The Bangladesh Post.
According to the case statement, the arrestee allegedly raped the child after brought her to his own room, tempting to give chocolate, on Tuesday night, while her parents were in their workplace.
Later, the accused even threatened to kill her, if she discloses the matter to anyone.
Later victim’s parents filed a lawsuit with Savar Model Police Station.
Police sent the victim to OCC of Dhaka medical college hospital for health exam and produced the arrestee before a Dhaka court on Thursday.
