Ekushey Book Fair in Khulna draws huge crowd

The month-long Ekushey Book Fair-2024 wore a  festive look with the buzz of book lovers at the Divisional Public Library  premises here.

Amid huge enthusiasm and curiosity, hundreds of visitors of all ages,  particularly the youth and children, flocked to different stalls and  pavilions to find books of their beloved writers on the day.

The Book Fair ground thronged with book lovers. Overcrowding was observed in  bookstores as it was a weekend and the ninth day of Ekushey Book Fair-2024.

A cultural programme performed by the students of Government Iqbalnagar  Secondary Girls School was held at the book fair on Friday afternoon.  Drubotara, a Literature organization, also organised a programme including  essay reading and discussion programmes by the poets and artists of the  organization from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the afternoon. 

In the evening, cultural programmes were performed by the artists of 

'Batikrom Sangskritik Academy.' A significant number of visitors attended the  fair and enjoyed the cultural events of the fair. The book fair has been designed by setting up over 100 book stalls including  food stalls, Deputy Director of the Divisional Public Library Mohammad  Hamidur Rahman told BSS Saturday. 

Besides, police and other law enforcement forces have been deployed to ensure  tight security.

Earlier, mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque  inaugurated the fair as the chief guest on February 1.

The fair remains open for all from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm every day except  holiday. On holiday, it remains open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
