For the first time in Bangladesh's history, the Amar Ekushey Book Fair is going to be held twice in the same year. The upcoming edition of the fair will begin on December 17.
The decision was made on Thursday afternoon at a meeting held in the Shaheed Munier Chowdhury Auditorium of Bangla Academy.
The meeting to set the schedule for the '2026 Amar Ekushey Book Fair' was presided over by Md Mofidur Rahman, secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Prof Mohammad Azam, director general of Bangla Academy, along with the Academy's secretary, directors, and representatives of the Bangladesh Publishers and Booksellers Association, were present at the meeting.
Following the meeting, Bangla Academy Director General Mohammad Azam said, "Considering the upcoming national parliamentary election and the holy month of Ramadan, the schedule for the 2026 Amar Ekushey Book Fair have been set from December 17, 2025 to January 17, 2026."
