Qatar Airways hosts iftar for orphan children

Qatar Airways hosted a CSR event for 100 children from three orphanages in Dhaka on Saturday.

In a press release of Qatar Airways said that the children were from Darul Ulum Korail Madrasa and Orpha­nage, Mohakhali Darul Aman Orphanage, and Azizia Madrasa and Orphanage. 

The fun-filled day of activities included musical chairs, tug-of-war, face-painting, and bouncy castles at the Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka. 

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Bangladesh, Ahmed Al Dehaimi, distributed prizes and gifts among the children. 

Qatar Airways Country Head in Bangladesh, Jayaprakash Nair, said, “On the occasion of the Holy month of Ramadan, we are tre­mendou­sly pleased to be able to host a fun-filled day of activities for children from three orphanages here in Dhaka. 

This initiative is just one of the ways in which we demonstrate our commitment to giving back to the community of Bangladesh. 

The Holy Month of Ramadan reminds us of the importance of giving to others, and we are truly grateful to have made a difference to these children.”

Corporate Social Responsibility is an important part of Qatar Airways’ values. The airline is a proud supporter of the Educate A Child (EAC) programme, an initiative that provides educational opportunities to children without access to 

education due to constraints such as extreme poverty, cultural 

barriers and conflict-affected environments.

Qatar Airways is also the Official Airline Partner of Orbis, an organisation which works to prevent avoidable blindness in areas of need. Working with a global team of volunteers and the world’s lea­ding oph­thalmic me­dical experts, Orbis runs long-term programmes in 18 countries, in­cluding India, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Zambia, among others.
