Srijit Mukherji proved his box office mettle yet again last year with the blockbuster ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’. The period drama received love all around while receiving appreciation in international festival arena.

And now, after winning accolades in the Palm Springs, Dhaka International Film Festival where it won audience award for Best Film, South Asian International Film Festival in New York, it’s an official selection at the upcoming Stuttgart Indian Film Festival where it will compete for German Star of India, Director's vision and the Audience award.

Also, the grandeur and aura of the particular British colonial period is superbly built up with the profound production design and Indraadip Das Gupta’s amazing music. However, it loses the grip a bit in the cinematic build up because of some unnecessary subplots. But it’s actually the strength of the performances, especially Jisshu Sengupta and Jaya Ahsan, guides ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’ rise back to glory.
