At least eight houses were burnt in a fire that broke out at the Wapda colony in Tabalchhari area in Rangaati on Friday morning.
Md Mizanur Rahman Babu, a former councilor of Rangamati municipality and a local resident of the area, said that the fire originated from the stove of a house at around 10am.
Later, the fire spread and burnt down eight houses affecting 12 families.
On information, firefighters and local brought the fire under control after an-hour effort, he said.
