The holy Eid-ul-Adha, the second biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated across the country tomorrow (Monday) with due religious fervour. Muslims of the country are taking preparations to celebrate the Eid, which marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and in commemoration of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim’s (AS) readiness to sacrifice his son to demonstrate his obedience to Allah.
The holy Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on the 10th of Zilhajj month of the Hijricalendar as Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), on this day, some 4,500 years ago, offeredto sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS), who willingly submitted tothe will of his father to please Allah. But the Almighty in His benign mercy spared Hazrat Ismail (AS) and insteadsent a sheep to be sacrificed.
Prophet Ibrahim and his family hadunwavering faith that Allah knows best and they did not question His orders even once, not when Allah told Prophet Ibrahim to leave his wife and son in the far flung desert of Mecca and not even when Allah ordered Prophet Ibrahim to slay his beloved son in His path. Commemorating Hazrat Ibrahim's devotion to Allah as he was ready to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail, well-off Muslims will offer prayers in congregations and sacrifice animals on the Eid day in the name of Almighty Allah.
They will also offer munajat seeking divine blessings for peace, progress andprosperity of the country as well as welfare of the Muslim Ummah. On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted the Muslim Ummah, including country's people, in their separate messages.
Meanwhile, all necessary preparations for holding Eid congregations have already been completed across the country, including capital Dhaka and Sholakia in Kishoreganj. Hundreds of thousands of Muslims will offer prayers there seeking divine blessings, peace and progress for the country. Meanwhile, law enforcing agencies have taken adequate security measures for peaceful and smooth celebration of the holy Eid-ul-Adha across the country.
The law enforcement agencies were also asked to ensure smooth movement of vehicles on highways, waterways and train routes. The main city streets and road islands have been decorated with the national flags and banners inscribed with 'Eid Mubarak' in Bangla and Arabic. Special diet will be served in hospitals, jails, government orphanages, centres for persons with disabilities, shelter homes and vagrant and destitute welfare centres. State-run Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private TV channels are airing special programmes on the occasion.
